Curious
about Duo-sama's past life? Well this is what happened to
Duo
according to Episode Zero.
His
whole life is painful experiance, yet, he bears it all on
his shoudlers and face with a smile and a happy
personality. The things people don't know about our
Shinigami..

The
first thing we know about Duo is that he arrived
in L2 Colony, at age 7, on the V08744, in AC 187.
L2 Colony was mostly inhabited by immigrants from
all over Earth. Because of all the immigrants,
the colony was very poorly run, restless and
quickly became anti-federation. There was a lot
of fighting in the colony, which meant that lots
of buildings were abandoned and a lot of children
lost their parents, which made them orphans.
Duo wasn’t born on L2 Colony; it is believed
that he somehow drifted there, mostly likely on
the V08744 shuttle. He didn’t have a name at
that time, so this proves that he must have been
an orphan. He was taken in by a kid named
Solo, who led a group of orphans in L2.
There was a virus that was spreading quickly over
L2. A virus that was fatal if not treaten.
A vaccine was discovered but the authorities saw
no reason to give out this vaccine to the poor
and homeless since they thought that the people
would die anyway. Duo snuck into the hospital and
got enough vaccine for everyone except for
himself. It was too late for Solo though.

Before Solo died, he said to Duo, "You're a
nice guy... I wish I could stay longer." Duo
replied, "Don't be stupid! You shouldn't
give up!" Later, Solo said, "Even after
I die, I'll always be with you. So be
nice.." When Solo died, Duo said,
"Fine...if Solo's with me, we'll be
Duo." (Yes! We have a name! Read on to see
how he gets the last name Maxwell.) When Duo
realized that he didn't have any vaccine left for
himself, he decided that he didn't mind if he
died. He thought, "I'll die too...because
we're Duo." But Duo never got sick! Perhaps
Solo was really watching over him. (^_^) He
decided to stay as the leader of the orphans in
Solo's pace.

One day, perhaps out of anger
at the Federation, Duo took the orphans to the
Federation base to steal food, but they were
caught. Duo managed to escape with the orphans.
The building that Duo and the orphans were
staying at was destoryed, so Maxwell Church took
them all in. They gave them food and new clothes.
(The clothes that Duo wears when he's piloting
Deathscythe.) A nun named Sister Helen wanted to
cut Duo's long hair but he refused. So she just
braided the hair, for the sake of neatness. Duo
got used to the new hair style and kept it. He
said, "Now it won't get in the way when I
steal stuff."

The orphans and Duo were sent
to a school that was Federation-run. They
accepted kids for the purpose of brainwashing
them. The school was mainly for military
personnel. Duo constantly kept getting into
fights with the military brats, who looked down
on the orphans. Duo was in the top of his class.
That only made things worse for him. He didn't
have to study since he learned quickly.
All the orphan's were adopted out but Duo never
managed to find a home. He was too much to handle
and a huge trouble maker so all the families
kicked him out in a day.
One day, Duo got in a fight with five kids and
sent them all into the hospital. The school
threatened him with expulsion. When Sister Helen
asked Duo why he'd get in a fight like that, he
told her that the kids were calling him names and
said that he smelled like the sewers. (There
wasn't a lot of water in the colony. If people
were lucky, then they'd be able to take a bath
and wash their clothes.) Sister Helen hugged Duo
and told him that he didn't smell. Then she said
that they'll go and get some snow off the roof
for the water so they could wash. When Father
Maxwell came back from the school, he went to
apoligize for Duo's behavior, Duo felt really bad
about what he did. But Father Maxwell told him,
"It's alright. If they only want me to
apoliguze for you, I'm happy to do so. Just go
back to school tomorrow and work hard."
Sister Helen and Father Maxwell were the first
parents Duo ever had. Thus Duo's last name became
Maxwell. Duo Maxwell.

About a year later, L2 Colony
became a battlefield once again. Maxwell Church
became the First Aid place for the wounded for
the resistance fighters that had made it their
base. One of the resistance leaders decided that
they need a Mobile Suit (MS). When Father Maxwell
objected, bringing up Heero Yuy (the colony
leader), they hit him with the back of the
riffle. They also accused Duo of being a spy
since he went to school at the base. Duo said
that he'll go and steal a MS for then if they
onyl leave the church in peace since it was a
place if santuary, but they didn't belive him.
Duo then said, "I run, I hide, but I never
tell a lie." Then Duo went to the base,
since he used to steal food from the base, he
knew the layout of the place. He rode the MS back
to the Chruch, but when he got there, the church
was in ruins.
There in the ruins, Sister Helen layed. She said
to Duo, "Duo, I'm glad you're safe. Father
was worried about you 'till the end..." Duo
was devastated, but he refused to cry, he just
smiled for her. He tried to leave and get a
doctor but Sister Helen kept talking, stopping
him from doing so. "The Federaton forces
attacked us, but we couldn't leave this
place." Duo replied, "It's all my
fault. I stole the Mobile Suit." Sister
Helen had a hard time focusing since she was
dying. "Father urged peace until the
end." She touched Duo's cheek gently and
continued, "May God protect you.." the
her hand fell away.
Duo couldn't keep it in any longer. He screamed
like a lost soul, because he would never see,
hear, or feel the warmth of Sister Helen ever
again. This was the very first time Duo ever
cried over a death. This time period was known as
the Maxwell Church Tragedy, 245 people died.
It is unknown where Duo went after this. He
didn't appear untill several years later.

| It was uncertain how Doctor G
and Duo met up. That part is unclear but Duo was
on a stowaway ship that Doctor G was on. He was
caught and dragged up onto the deck. Doctor G
must have seen something in Duo; he not only let
Duo stay ont he ship but he also let Duo into the
group and eventually gave him Gundam Deathcythe
to pilot. Duo wasn't happy when he found out what
the real purpose of the Gundams were so he made
an attempt to blow Deathcythe up. However, Doctor
G cuaght up to what Duo was doing and disarmed
the bombs on the Gundam before Duo detonaited
them. Doctor G then confronted Duo and told him
to go and steal Deathscythe and go fulfill the
mission as he saw it, not how anyone else did. |
